Corrections

This site will contain errors. What matters is what happens next, so every correction is published here — including the ones nobody complained about.

Entries are never edited to look better and never removed. If a correction is itself wrong, it gets a new entry saying so. Changes that did not alter what a reader was told — design, new pages, performance — are not corrections and are deliberately not listed here, because padding this page would hide the entries that matter.

Found something wrong? Every figure comes from a clinic's own CDC filing and we do not edit it, but we can match the wrong record to a clinic, and the registry itself can be wrong. Either way we want to know: [email protected].

30 operating clinics were missing from the directory

    What was wrong
Thirty clinics the CDC flags as “reorganized” were excluded from the directory, the map, the ranking and every clinic count on the site. Pages briefly stated that these clinics had “reorganized and no longer report under this name,” which about an operating clinic is simply false.
    Why it happened
We had treated the registry's status column as open-or-closed. The CDC's own definition, in Appendix C of the ART report, is narrower: reorganization means a change of ownership or affiliation, or a change in at least two of the three key staff positions. Reorganized clinics are listed among the reporting clinics. They are open. Only clinics marked closed have shut.
    What changed
All 30 were restored to the directory, the map and the ranking the same day, taking the published total from 422 to 452 clinics and the rated count from 361 to 382. The affected profiles now carry a disclosure line noting that ownership, affiliation or key staff changed after the reported outcomes, which is worth raising at a consult. The five clinics that genuinely closed moved to their own pages with closed-only copy.
    Clinics affected
Among others: UNC Fertility, RUSH, UMass Memorial IVF, UIC, Texas Tech, Pacific Northwest Fertility, five Kindbody locations, and Shady Grove's New York and Walter Reed programs.

“457 clinics across all 50 states and DC” was wrong twice

    What was wrong
A summary figure described the directory as covering 457 clinics across all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
    Why it happened
The 457 count included clinics that no longer operate. And two states — Montana and Wyoming — have no reporting fertility clinic at all, so “all 50 states” was never true.
    What changed
The figure now reads 452 reporting clinics across 48 states, DC and Puerto Rico, and the states with no reporting clinic are named rather than averaged away.
